Family Counseling

In this setting, a family is a group of individuals that are working towards the same stated goal. It can include any combination of people that are specific to that family unit. The request for family therapy is considered on a case-by-case basis, and all participants must be willing to work towards the same goal.

Family therapy is very similar to individual counseling- there are just more people in the room! The experience is augmented with games, activities, role plays, and art. The only requirement is that all family members agree on the same destination and work together to achieve it.

Goals that often work well for these sessions include improved communication, connection, and relationship building. This can be a helpful modality to process family dynamic changes or losses, such as the integration of new family members.

Children’s negative behaviors are often believed to be the source of conflict and chaos in the family system; however, I believe that something truly magical happens in a family system when parents shift their ideals and the child gets their needs met.

Spotting the ReSolve exists to provide a fun, developmentally appropriate space that makes it easy and safe for families to do the difficult work of healing.
